Raku
(Running The Ridge)
RUNNING THE RIDGE

Colorful and one of a kind, The combination of coils and dots throughout the pieces add appealing interest. The use of a reduction chamber at the end of the raku firing was introduced by the American potter Paul Soldner in the 1960s to compensate for the difference in atmosphere between wood-fired Japanese raku kilns and gas-fired American kilns.

Description: The bowl is approximately 14 inches Diameter with fluted edges. The fluted or ruffled flounce that trims the outside of my bowls, is unique to my pieces, as is the lace inset on the front and back of each piece.
